AI prompts for social media managers that do the whole job

Most prompt lists only write captions. These 10 cover what freelancers actually spend time on: getting clients, matching their voice, and keeping them.

The short answer

The best AI prompts for social media managers give the AI a role, real context, a clear task, rules and a format. Use them across the whole job: find gaps in a prospect’s page, write a personal first message, capture a client’s voice, plan a month, write hooks and Reel scripts, reply to comments, summarize monthly results, and ask for referrals.

The 5-part prompt formula

PartWhat to writeExample
RoleWho the AI is“You’re a social media manager for local salons.”
ContextReal details: brief, notes, numbers“Here’s the client brief: …”
TaskOne clear job“Write 10 hooks for a balayage Reel.”
RulesLimits and voice“Max 10 words. No emojis. Sound like a friend.”
FormatHow you want it back“Numbered list, best first.”

The biggest upgrade most people can make is context. A prompt with a real client brief beats a “perfect” prompt with none.

Make AI writing sound human

  • Feed it real examples of the client’s own writing (prompt 4).
  • Ban the giveaways: “elevate,” “unlock,” “game-changer,” “in today’s fast-paced world.”
  • Add one real detail AI can’t know: a staff name, a local street, a customer’s words.
  • Read it out loud. If you wouldn’t say it, rewrite it.

Stop re-typing the same prompts

Once a prompt works, save it. In Claude, a Claude Skill stores a whole process (like your monthly report) so you ask in one line. See also Claude for social media managers.
